1996
Gallery
After a couple of "quiet" years, 1996 brought
a bright comet, a lunar eclipse and a partial solar eclipse. Unfortunately
comet Huyakutake and the lunar eclipse cought me at a bad time, as I
did not have dark skies or something better than my EOS with a 35-80mm
lens. I moved twice that year, from Kallithea to Ilioupolis in January
and from there to my permanent residence in Alimos (June).

Comet
Huyakutake was approaching really fast and I did not have much of
equipment. This is what 15 secs of exposure with an 80mm lens @
f/5.6 recorded on Kodak Pro 1600 from my balcony in Ilioupolis.
This film proved to be quite insensitive even at ISO 1600. New

a bad lunar photo using the above film (54x).

The
partial solar eclipse of '96 through my 4.5'' Newtonian. The image
was projected on a custom "screen" (actually paper in
a box). The day was very cloudy, and the clouds are visible in this
picture.

As
I had moved (summer of '96) to Alimos near the airport, airplanes
are common to the skies. An 80mm lens and an 85A filter were used.

telescope and a friend's camera (Zenit 12, I think) are pointing
towards the sun. 80mm, UV filter.
